Gwen Emslie

Gwen Emslie was born in 1924 in London and moved to Bexhill when she married to run a guest house.

She became very active in local charities for the elderly as well as a local councillor.

She set up Manor Housing Association in 1975 as well as developing properties for sale to younger people at fairer prices.

This was a time when local youngsters were starting to be priced out of the market.

She continued to work hard for the people of Bexhill up to her death in 1996.
